Germany took 9th place at the Men’s youth World Championship, which is taking place at Tbilisi Olympic Palace. Germany met Iceland and won with the result 37:26.
Jochen Beppler’s team started the match actively and took a lead soon, they won the half-time with the result 21:14. Iceland couldn’t propose something new to the opponent in the second half and defeated with 11 points difference. Birgir Birgisson was named as the best player from Icelanders as he scored 5 goals for his team and goalkeeper Leon Mehler was the most valuable player from Germany.
“It was a terrible game, I’m disappointed, Only some players were performing what I wanted and the goalkeeper was playing well” – Bjarni Fritzson, Iceland’s head coach.

Besides, these two teams met at the tournament twice. In the first match, at the group stage Iceland defeated Germany with the result 28:27. Bjarni Fritzson’s team took 10 place at the championship.
