Iceland met Algeria in another B group game at the Men’s Youth World Championship. Icelanders defeated the opponents with the result 37:27.
Europeans started the match with a slight advantage and took a lead from first minutes, but they won the half – time with 2 points difference 15:13. In the second half Bjarni Fritzson’s team played with more confidence and kept leadership till the end of the match. Finally, they won over the Algerians with 10 points difference. The best player from Icelanders was Orri Freyr Thorkelsson, who scored 8 goals and the most impressive from Algeria was Abdel Malek Fodil, who scored 7 goals.
“I think, first half wasn’t good and the second half was better, but we won and I think, it’s very good for us. we played very good in the second half which was our positive side” – Bjarni Fritzson, Icelandic head coach.
“It was very difficult game, especially in the second half, because Icelanders are very good in defense, unfortunately, we lost control and lost” – Youcef Loukit, Algerian coach.
Iceland have 8 points and Algeria owns 2 points now. Iceland will meet Germany and Algeria will face Japan on august 14.
